David Moyes has referred to West Ham United as home upon being appointed the club’s manager for a second time, as reported by the club’s official website.
What did he say?
Manuel Pellegrini was dismissed from the post following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of a weakened Leicester City side, with the Scotsman being selected as the man to replace him.
The 56-year-old managed the east London club between November 2017 and May 2018 before being replaced by Pellegrini, with this being his first managerial role since.

Upon his return, Moyes said: “It’s fabulous to be back. It feels great to be home. I’ve missed being here because I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed being around the stadium and I loved being in this part of the world and I missed the Club, so I can’t wait to get started.
“I’m feeling very proud that I’m back here at West Ham. But I think more importantly I’ll be looking to see what I can do and what I can make improvements to, how we can get some wins with the players and how we can get some quick wins on the field as well.”
Ludicrous comment
One statement that stands out within this comment is that “it feels great to be home”, which is quite frankly ludicrous.
Moyes spent six months at West Ham, which makes it hard to believe that London Stadium feels like home to him, especially when it is considered that he spent over 10 years at Everton.
Did he really play for us?! No West Ham fan has managed to name all of these obscure Irons signings….
In addition to the time he spent there, it isn’t exactly like he was embraced by the club, so when he claims “I enjoyed being around the stadium” it must mean he enjoys animosity and toxicity.
There were various signs that the Hammers fans weren’t satisfied at the time, with the most obvious of those being the protests against Burnley, during which some fans invaded the pitch.
The 56-year-old is probably thrilled to be back at West Ham considering how long he has been out of management, but his reference to London Stadium being his home feels rather forced.
In other news, a positive of the timing around Pellegrini’s sacking has been identified.
