Sheffield Wednesday managed to finally get back to winning ways last weekend as they defeated Charlton Athletic.
The Owls reverted back to a 4-4-2 system for the first time in several weeks with Steven Fletcher and Atdhe Nuhiu leading the line, and it paid off as they both scored all three of Wednesday’s goals.
It was their first win in five matches.
Garry Monk’s recent team selections have opened up a clue into how he could see January shaping up.

Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnall have barely been seen since the 40-year-old took over in September, only the 29-year-old has featured in the last seven matches, and that was only for seven minutes.
Both of these players spent time away from the club on loan last season at Norwich City and Derby County respectively, so their time at Hillsborough must surely be coming to an end in the near future.
Monk may try to shift them on in the winter window, but history dictates that it could be a difficult task given how chairman Dejphon Chansiri has gone about his business over the last few years.
In his first season at the helm, 2015/16, he appointed Carlos Carvalhal and in January they were only able to sell one player – Rhoys Wiggins before over a handful of players left that summer.
The following January the club only loaned out players with the exception of one, Sergiu Bus, who was able to leave the club for free, but yet again around seven players departed at the end of the season.
No player left the club permanently in the 2018 window or in 2019 either.
So in four-and-a-half years in control of the south Yorkshire club, only one player has left for any form of fee in the January transfer window, and only one other has exited permanently in some way.
This makes for concerning reading going into next month as Monk has several players unable to break into his first team, like Rhodes and Winnall, who may want to go elsewhere but may not be able to for whatever reason – there is clearly a trend at the club under Chansiri.
