Well, that didn’t quite go as planned, then.
Southampton’s official Twitter account attempted to get the supporters in the mood for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Everton by posting a video of the players making a number of blocks during last weekend’s game against Manchester City.
However, the fans did not receive it well.
The Saints lost back-to-back games against Man City, first going down 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the EFL Cup last week before losing 2-1 in the league on Saturday.
Both results were better than the 9-0 home defeat to Leicester City on October 25, but there is no getting away from the fact that the strugglers are currently in the relegation zone.
What’s more, the south-coast outfit are without a victory in the Premier League since the middle of September, losing five of their last six in the top flight.
The tweet was supposed to rally the supporters.
However, it went horribly wrong, as can be seen by the reaction below:
