David Moyes has challenged his Everton players to produce their first half display against Southampton over the course of 90 minutes.
The blues fell behind on Saturday, only to blow the Saints away with some fantastic football during a crazy 30 minute period.
Nikita Jelavic scored twice and was only denied his hat trick by some superb goalkeeping, while Leon Osman opened his account for the season. Marouane Fellaini also rattled the crossbar during a spell of superb attacking football, of which Moyes wants to see more.
“I hope there is more to come from us,” he told evertontv. “Because we want to play like we did in the first half against Southampton for 90 minutes.
“There will be times when we have to grind things out like we did in the second half, but we want to play like we did at Swansea and against Aston Villa and we want to keep that going.”
One player to really catch the eye on Saturday was summer signing Kevin Mirallas, who has been improving with every game. The Belgian provided a brilliant assist for Jelavic, and Moyes is already delighted with what he has seen.
“He is doing much better to start than I thought he might do. I thought we might have to take our time with him and bed him in,” he said.“But he is doing a great job for us playing from the right at the minute and he is looking bright and looking a threat so I am really pleased with him.”
