Chelsea produced the perfect remedy for their League Cup elimination at the hands of Arsenal on Sunday, securing their place in the next round of the competition that offers their likeliest chance of silverware this season with a 3-0 victory over Newcastle in the FA Cup.
It took just over half an hour for the Blues to break the deadlock through a well-worked passing move that eventually saw Michy Batshuayi stab home from short range and from that point on, the west Londoners were in complete control.
The Belgium international soon completed a brace, while Marcos Alonso got on the scoresheet with another trademark free kick that blistered past Karl Darlow.
