Tottenham Hotspur have opened negotiations with French champions Paris Saint-Germain regarding the services of Adrien Rabiot, according to Paris United.
What’s the word?
Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side face a crucial few years ahead, as they seek to retain their spot in the Premier League’s top-four and battle their finances after moving to the rejuvenated White Hart Lane – which has been delayed indefinitely.
Concern was raised amongst supporters in the summer as Spurs failed to make a single signing during the close season, although that does not seem to have affected their form as they won their opening three games before defeat to Watford prior to the international break.
Pochettino is in the market for new recruits and has set his sights on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to Paris United, with it looking unlikely that the 23-year-old will extend his contract in the French capital.
A good move?
Tottenham have developed remarkably well under the guidance of Pochettino but there are some question marks about their depth in midfield, with Mousa Dembele and Moussa Sissoko standing as just two of the midfielders being natural in a central role as the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are best utilised further forward.

31-year-old Dembele could be on the way out in the near future and Rabiot could stand as an ideal replacement for the Belgium international, although Spurs will face a stern fight for his services amidst competition from the likes of Juventus, Barcelona and Manchester City.
Fans may also be concerned that links to Rabiot stand as the latest in a line of potential free agents being linked with a move to Spurs next summer, which suggests that Pochettino may not have much funds available to strengthen his squad after their stadium move.
